Our measure of capital outflows from EMs has jumped to its highest level since July 2022 amid the recent surge in US Treasury yields and strengthening of the dollar. If Donald Trump wins the US election, there is plenty of scope for these market moves to continue. That would create a particularly difficult environment for EMs with large external vulnerabilities, such as Argentina and Turkey.
