US tariffs will start to weigh on China’s export growth soon. Domestic headwinds are also set to persist. A significant loosening of fiscal policy will help support the economy, but it won’t be enough to prevent growth from slowing this year. Given that our China Activity Proxy suggests a weaker than expected start to 2025, we now expect the economy to expand just 3.5% in 2025.
