Emerging Market Consumer Snapshot (Q3 2015)

The falls in commodity prices over the past year have caused consumer spending to slow in many commodity-exporting countries, with Russia and Brazil being hit particularly hard. Only consumers in commodity exporters in Emerging Asia and the Gulf don’t seem to have been affected. Meanwhile, consumers in much of the rest of the emerging world have continued to benefit from low inflation and loose monetary policy. These trends look likely to persist over the coming months.
