The overarching theme of the Labour government’s housing policies will be a rebalancing of rights in favour of tenants and aspiring homeowners at the expense of landowners and landlords. That said, given the incoming government’s commitment to creating a healthy business environment, we expect it to strike a balance between preserving property rights and reform that supports higher levels of housebuilding and security for tenants.
