While Sanae Takaichi's defeat in this week's LDP leadership elections means that Japan won't have its first female Prime Minister after all, Shigeru Ishiba's victory will almost certainly be welcome news for policymakers at the Bank of Japan. Meanwhile, the September Tokyo CPI was a mixed bag and the October inflation release that the Bank of Japan has touted as a major milestone is unlikely to provide the groundbreaking insights the Bank is hoping for, either.
