CDU Agenda 2030 won’t turn Germany around

The CDU’s economic policy agenda, released today, clearly recognises the scale of Germany’s economic challenges and proposes some sensible policies to address them. But some of the measures are not ambitious enough and many will not be implemented in full by the next government. And government policy simply cannot eliminate some of the structural headwinds to growth. Accordingly, the German economy looks set to grow only very slowly even after the upcoming general election.
