The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) lowered its policy rate by 100bps today, and further easing is likely later in the year. Today’s cut marks the second consecutive meeting where the central bank has reduced interest rates. Prior to that, the policy rate had remained at an all-time high of 22.0% since June 2023.
