EM demographic challenge not the disaster that many expect

The contribution that favourable demographics have made to emerging market growth over the past couple of decades is often overplayed. In reality, the growth of working age populations has played only a minor role in driving EM growth since the mid-1990s. Accordingly, while several EMs are now likely to run into demographic headwinds over the next decade, this may not necessarily be the disaster that some seem to expect.
