MbS skips on BRICS+ summit but holds fruitful Egypt talks

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s (MbS) decision to skip next week’s BRICS+ summit adds to the signs that the Kingdom feels that its shift towards China’s sphere of influence may have gone too far. Saudi officials are probably also waiting to see who wins the US election. MbS did, however, meet Egypt’s President al-Sisi in Cairo this week, unveiling new agreements and laying the ground for investments into Egypt. This adds to the positive momentum behind Egypt’s recent policy shift and should set the ground for more sustainable growth.
