The decision by the Hungarian central bank to slow the pace of its easing cycle today, with a 75bp cut to its base rate (to 8.25%) will probably be followed by a further slowdown in the pace of the easing cycle in the coming months. We expect the base rate to end 2024 at 6.25%, which is a more hawkish view compared to the consensus.
