President Trump hit the ground running by declaring a National Energy Emergency and outlining his desire for lower oil prices. Whilst Trump has put the focus on ramping up oil supply to bring oil prices down, the weak demand backdrop may mean that the President will get his wish anyway. Meanwhile, unseasonably strong natural gas demand in Europe this summer could put upward pressure on prices as the continent waits for the incoming wave of LNG supply.
