Talk of an EM currency war looks overdone

A retreat to widespread competitive currency devaluations in emerging markets would certainly be a cause for concern but, despite recent claims to the contrary, there is so far little evidence to suggest this is happening. In China, which has been the focus of concerns, the authorities are actually intervening heavily in foreign exchange markets to prevent currency depreciation.
