The slowdown in EM GDP growth over the past couple of years has been driven in large part by weakness in the four largest emerging economies, the BRICs. Much of this weakness has, in turn, been caused by structural problems that will only be overcome by a fresh wave of economic reforms. In this Update we pick out four charts that are likely to reveal the first signs that the BRICs are addressing their problems and once again moving in the right direction.
