The surprise decision by the US Fed to delay the tapering of its asset purchases this month has provided a temporary reprieve for emerging market assets, including those in Africa. In light of this, we have tweaked some of our near-term forecasts for the region’s major currency and equity markets, although we have not fundamentally changed our view of how African markets will perform over the next couple of years.
