The composite activity PMI was unchanged in February, which is consistent with the economy moving sideways in the middle of Q1, following a 0.1% q/q rise in Q4 of last year. (See Chart 1.) But more worrying were further signs that businesses intend to cope with higher taxes by cutting employment.
