RBI’s bond restrictions, policy meeting preview

The RBI's surprise move this week to restrict foreign access in some long-dated sovereign bonds highlights the bumpy path for foreign investors as policymakers balance a push for more overseas investment against a desire for macro stability. Next week, we think the MPC will vote to keep rates on hold. But space for rate cuts should open up by the end of the year.
