The latest batch of state election results suggests that support for Prime Minister Modi’s BJP remains firmly intact and that it is clearly in the driving seat to secure another victory in next year’s general election. That reduces the risk of big fiscal giveaways in the near term, while the delivery of another stable government with a working majority would be positive for prospects over the long term.
