China has responded to US tariffs with an additional 34% tariff on all US goods, the most sweeping it has ever imposed. Some US companies have also been added to China’s unreliable entities list and export controls have been expanded. This is an aggressive, escalatory response that makes a near-term deal to end the trade war between the two superpowers highly unlikely.
