Sri Lanka election risks, new Indonesia rate forecast

Sri Lanka has enjoyed a steady, if unspectacular recovery from the 2022 debt default crisis. However, this progress could be put at risk depending on the results of this weekend’s presidential election, with two of the main candidates pledging to reopen talks with the IMF over the terms of the 2023 loan deal. Meanwhile, following Wednesday’s surprise rate cut by Bank Indonesia, we have adjusted our end-year interest rate forecast.
