Biden calls for AGOA extension, SA inflation

The 21st Forum on the African Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA) took place in Washington this week with attention focussed on not only extending the legislation but also improving it in light of AGOA’s waning importance in facilitating US-Africa trade. Even so, a Donald Trump return to the White House would clearly threaten to undermine Africa’s exports to the US. Meanwhile, in South Africa, June’s inflation data strengthened the case for the Reserve Bank to begin an easing cycle soon.
