The Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) monetary policy reforms have injected a welcome dose of momentum back into the country’s policy shift. But the minutes to the latest MPC meetings also suggest that a slowdown in growth could prompt a (premature) shift to easing. In any case, one key point is that fiscal policy needs to start playing a bigger role in the economy’s adjustment if Nigeria is to thrive.
