Gulf overheating fears fail to materialise

The massive fiscal stimulus packages unveiled by Gulf economies in the wake of the Arab Spring raised fears at the time that they would lead to economic overheating and rising inflation. Fortunately, these fears have not materialised. And with the region’s economies set to weaken next year, we think inflation is likely to remain subdued.
