Although Egyptian inflation fell to its slowest rate for 4 years in October, currency concerns continue to prevent a near-term cut in interest rates. Indeed, if there is any rate change before the end of the year, it is more likely to be up than down. Further ahead, the direction of rate moves will depend largely on whether elections this month pass off smoothly and external financing assistance can be secured.
