Concerns about the impact on emerging economies of tapering by the US Fed have taken a back seat as investors have begun to focus on issues closer to home. The worst fears about a “hard landing” in China and the subsequent impact on the rest of the emerging world are overdone, but even so EM growth is likely to remain subdued over the next couple of years.
