The economic impact of Russia’s decision to ban imports of some foodstuffs from the EU, the US and other western countries is extremely uncertain, but it seems likely that the biggest loser will be Russia itself. In contrast, while some European countries, notably Lithuania, could be hit hard too, the aggregate impact on the EU’s exports will probably be extremely small.
