The recent rally in the Turkish markets appears to have been driven by expectations of continued loose monetary policy in the developed world coupled – dare we say it – with a reasonable amount of complacency on domestic economic risks. Indeed, the economy remains vulnerable to a fresh external shock and we’re concerned about the potential build-up of vulnerabilities in the banking sector.
