Nigeria's export sector to continue dragging on growth

The weakness of Nigeria’s export sector is down to a variety of factors, including a lack of competitiveness, falling oil prices and the expansion of shale oil extraction in the US. These factors point to continued sluggish export growth over the next few years. As a result, net trade looks set to drag on overall economic growth and the current account surplus is likely to narrow over the coming years.
