While the evidence of broad-based, rapid disinflation in the US offers some hope for the UK, we suspect the UK will not quickly follow the US. Instead, we think the UK's recent problems of higher inflation and slower growth than elsewhere will persist for some time and that the UK will probably look like the “stagflation nation” for another couple of years yet.
