Egypt’s headline inflation rate only slowed a touch to 24.0% y/y in January. But with earlier falls in the pound now starting to fall out of the annual price comparison, we expect Egypt’s headline inflation rate to slow sharply over the rest of Q1. This will open the door for the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE’s) easing cycle to kick off in April, if not at the meeting in two weeks’ time.
