Panama’s time as a Latin American growth star is set to come to an end this year. This will have a knock-on effect on the government’s revenues and means that the public debt ratio is set to rise further. That could put Panama’s coveted investment grade rating at risk, although a downgrade already appears to be priced into financial markets.
