The rise in house prices in December builds on November’s gain, providing some support to our view that house prices will rise by a healthy 4% this year. That said, with the sales-to-new listing ratio dropping back last month and higher bond yields putting upward pressure on mortgage rates, there are some downside risks to that forecast.
