We suspect that a Coalition government would run slightly tighter fiscal policy than Labor, which in turn may encourage the Reserve Bank of Australia to loosen monetary policy a bit more aggressively than we’re anticipating. But while we expect the Coalition to take a slightly friendlier stance towards fossil fuel mining, it won’t be able to prevent the mining sector from shrinking over the coming years.
