The drop in South Africa’s headline inflation, to 2.8% y/y, in October, will make it harder for the SARB to strike a hawkish tone regarding inflation pressures at its monetary policy committee meeting tomorrow. But with the rand’s recent struggles, we still expect the MPC to opt for a 25bp cut to 7.75%.
