Although all eyes are on the general election due to take place in less than a fortnight, developments across the Channel have the potential to be just as important an influence on the UK economy in the coming weeks. Fortunately, the UK is better placed to deal with a Grexit than it was when concerns were last this intense in 2012.
Nonetheless, a significant escalation of the Greek crisis would inevitably cause some disruption to both the euro-zone and UK economies. This gives the MPC another reason to tread carefully in the coming months.
