It looks like economic growth accelerated further in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar over the first few months of the year. In Saudi Arabia, this was supported by a rebound in the oil sector, while non-oil sectors in the UAE and Qatar have picked up. By contrast, it looks like growth in Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman is sluggish. Looking ahead, we expect growth to slow across the region as fiscal policy becomes less supportive and the oil boom of the past decade fades.
