The fiscal support package announced this week is welcome but, at just 0.3% of GDP, actual demand-boosting measures are small. Meanwhile, the latest inflation data for September showed a greater rise in price pressures than had been expected. A rate cut in December now seems unlikely but if core inflation does drop over the coming months as we expect, the easing cycle could resume in February.
