Economic growth rebounded strongly in the second quarter, strengthening our view that Australia’s recovery is intact despite the fall in output in Q1. Worries about the global outlook obviously add some uncertainty. But, for now, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is rightly more concerned about upside risks to inflation. We believe that policy rates will continue to rise. By contrast, the swap market is now pointing to imminent cuts.
