The prices of almost all commodities have risen this week, fuelled by the ongoing improvement in investor sentiment and renewed weakness in the US dollar. The rally in oil prices was perhaps somewhat surprising given the failure of major producers to reach an agreement to freeze output in Doha last weekend. Indeed, in the absence of significant economic data releases, sentiment appeared to be the principal factor driving prices.
