The past week has been a good one for commodity prices, with most recording at least a small increase. Adverse growing conditions boosted the prices of coffee and wheat, while silver again outperformed gold. However, over-supply and high stocks weighed on the prices of several industrial metals. Commodities in general also ended the week on the defensive, pressured by renewed dollar strength after US CPI data showed the three-month annualised rate of core inflation rising to a four-year high of 2.6%.
