Australia’s labour market is showing signs of stabilisation but GDP growth is set to fall short of the RBA’s expectations. As such, we still expect the RBA to cut interest rates at the upcoming meeting in February. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s economy defied expectations of a slowdown in Q3, and with business and consumer confidence rebounding, the pressure on the RBNZ to cut interest rates is diminishing.
