Figures released today by Brazil’s Sugarcane Industry Association, UNICA, show that 38.4 million tonnes of cane were harvested in the second half of October in the main South-Central cane-growing region. This was 11% higher than in the same period last year and slightly above analysts’ expectations of 37.9 million tonnes. The crush increased even though three days are estimated to have been lost to rain.
