Trump imposes 25% tariff on auto imports

Following media reports at the start of this week that product-specific tariffs would be deferred, President Donald Trump has changed tack once again and announced that all finished motor vehicle imports will be subject to a 25% tariff from April 3rd. He also suggested that other product-specific tariffs on pharmaceuticals and lumber would be coming soon while, at the same time, hinting that the country-specific reciprocal tariffs, due to be unveiled on April 2nd, could be slightly lower than some feared.
