The 3.6% increase in new home sales in December wraps up a solid year for newbuild demand in an otherwise stagnant housing market, with sales up nearly 3% over 2024 as a whole. We expect new home sales to continue to grind higher this year, although builders will face growing competition from increasing resale supply, which poses a modest downside risk to our forecast.
