What’s really happening with new build house prices?

The Office for National Statistics’ (ONS) November house price data release indicates unusually large increases in new build house prices in recent months. We suspect that this reported rise does not reflect genuine trends in the current market. In fact, we expect the new build price premium, which is the price difference between new builds and existing homes, to fall in the coming year.
