Will remote work go into reverse?

We doubt the announcement by Amazon that it is requiring office-based workers to return full-time marks the start of a reversal in the remote work share. It is far from clear that requiring five days a week in the office raises worker productivity and it can harm employee retention. Indeed, the share of UK firms planning on using remote work has seen no reduction over the past couple of years. With some firms having already downsized their office space and the new UK government apparently supportive of flexible work arrangements, it is too late to put the remote work genie back in the bottle.
