The headline CIPS construction PMI eased to a six-month low of 53.3 in December, from 55.2 in November, although that indicates construction activity is still expanding. The decline in the headline balance reflected a fall in all three of the subsectors but only the housing balance, at 47.6, is consistent with a contraction in construction activity.
