We are not expecting any other central banks in the region to follow Bank Indonesia and hike interest rates to support their currencies. However, one central bank worth monitoring is the State Bank of Vietnam. It is one of the few countries in the region where reserve coverage is low (just three months’ worth of imports), and also a place where policymakers try to keep the currency stable in order to provide certainty to exporters.
