Canada International Trade (Dec. 2024)

The surge in exports in December and recent improvement in the export order survey indicators add to the evidence that the economy was picking up momentum at the end of last year. The prospect of US tariffs means that the outlook for exporters is much gloomier this year, although there is scope for exports to continue to do well in the near term if US buyers ramp up orders in an attempt to front-run potential tariffs.
