Inflation shocks, Ghana growth

The surprise rises in inflation in March in Sub-Saharan Africa's two biggest economies are likely to put pressure on policymakers in Nigeria and South Africa to raise interest rates further. Elsewhere, the ongoing economic crisis in Ghana did not dent growth in late-2022 as much as many expected. But we don’t think that the economy will manage to dodge a more marked slowdown this year.
