Lloyds going it alone may not help the lending outlook

It is looking increasingly likely that the Government will allow Lloyds Banking Group to bow out of the Asset Protection Scheme (APS). While this is testimony to the improvement in both financial and economic conditions in the past six months, it could further reduce the Government’s ability to get UK banks to lend enough to support the economic recovery.
